Board & Committees

Habitat for Humanity of Johnston County's Board of Directors are all volunteers lending their time and expertise to the mission of eliminating substandard housing within Johnston County. Their service is evidence of putting God's love into action. If you would like more information about serving on a board committee or being an officer, please call our affiliate office at 919-934-9331.  Below are the executive offices positions and the board committees. Although all but one committee chair position is filled, the chairpersons need committee members to assist with the tasks needed to support our Habitat mission.

Habitat for Humanity of Johnston County Board Committees  

Responsibilities:

Homeowner Selection Committee – responsible for the processes used to receive applications, review necessary documents, conduct home visits, and present qualifying applicants to the Board of Directors for approval.  The committee keeps current the selection criteria for the approval process.

            Committee Chairperson – Brian Martin

 

Homeowner Support Committee – responsible for providing perspective homeowners with the knowledge, support, and resources necessary for buying a Habitat home and becoming successful long-term homeowners. 

                        Committee Chairperson – Marvin Molina

 

Construction Committee – responsible for overseeing construction projects, building simple, decent, affordable Habitat homes.  The committee selects house plans, secures required materials and subcontractors and works with volunteers on the construction site to provide construction and safety instructions. 

                        Committee Co-Chairperson – Mike Edwards

 

Public Relations – responsible for promoting the Habitat for Humanity mission and ongoing activities throughout Johnston County through media, website, Facebook posts, speakers, newsletters, and community events.

Community Relations – responsible for establishing relationships with appropriate individuals, organizations, businesses, and churches that would partner with HFHJC to eliminate substandard housing in Johnston County.

Volunteer Committee – responsible for identifying, recruiting, organizing, and recognizing volunteers.

Resource Development – responsible for working with the board to develop and manage a plan of fundraising, soliciting funds, and finding grant opportunities.
